For Immediate Release:  June 18, 2020

(PARK CITY, UT) The 2020 Park City Kimball Arts Festival has been cancelled due to health concerns for artists and visitors.

“We were willing to make significant changes and scale back the event dramatically to ensure health and safety while also supporting artists, local businesses, and boosting our economy,” said Dan Lemaitre, Kimball Art Center’s board chair. “In the end though, the ability to ensure and enforce social distancing and other safety measures among thousands of art lovers was too complicated.”

While acknowledging the news as disappointing, Lemaitre reconfirmed the organization’s commitment to its mission. “We are more determined than ever to inspire and connect through art,” he said. “We’re looking at a variety of creative programming, including an online platform, to support artists and contribute to Park City’s economic recovery.”

He added that more details will be available soon on the event’s website: ParkCityKimballArtsFestival.org.

The annual Park City Kimball Arts Festival is a three-day, award-winning visual arts festival held annually on Park City’s Historic Main Street. The event typically draws over 50,000 attendees and hundreds of professional artists who are accepted via a blind jury process. Money from the event supports many Kimball Art Center programs, including free art education in public schools, access to free exhibitions, scholarships for low-income children to participate in art classes, after-school art programs, and much more.

The 51st annual Park City Kimball Arts Festival was scheduled for July 31-August 2nd on Historic Main Street.

Park City Kimball Arts Festival Voted Among the Top Art Festivals in the Country

Park City Kimball Arts Festival Voted Among the Top Art Festivals in the Country

Festival ranked #2 in nation and #1 in the West.

(Park City, UT) — Each fall, over 56,000 fine art collectors and enthusiasts, artists, press, festival attendees, and art insiders are asked a simple question: What is the best art festival in America?

This year, for the first time in survey’s history, the Park City Kimball Arts Festival was ranked #2 in the country and secured the top regional spot, with a 1st place ranking in the West.

The survey is conducted by ArtFairCalendar.com, the leading resource for juried fine art fairs and festivals in the country. It is designed to recognize achievement in the production and promotion fine art events across the nation.

“Considering there are thousands of annual art festivals across the country, we are honored, humbled, and frankly, a little giddy to be ranked so high,” said Kimball Art Center’s executive director, Jory Macomber. “While the Festival is just one weekend out of the year, our staff really dedicates 12 months to planning, perfecting, and promoting the event. I’m thrilled to see all their hard worked recognized in this way.”

Macomber also noted the ranking furthers the credibility and prestige of the Park City Kimball Arts Festival. “In 2019, artists sold more artwork than ever, we saw visitors from as far away as Hong Kong, and the economic impact of this three-day festival gave a $26 million boost to our local economy. But most importantly, more than 50,000 attendees found inspiration and connection at our event, which is at the heart of Kimball Art Center’s mission.”

Each August, the Park City Kimball Arts Festival is held along the town’s historic Main Street and showcases over 225 artists from around North America. The three-day event serves as Kimball Art Center’s largest fundraiser, and in 2020, the organization hopes to eliminate the $15 entry fee by increasing the number of artists.

“Currently, the admission charge is a large chunk of our revenue,” Macomber admitted. “I know eliminating it seems counterintuitive given the event is a critical fundraiser for Kimball Art Center’s year-round programming, but we strongly believe art, creativity, and inspiration should be accessible to all. As such, we are actively looking for ways to free the event and offset the financial hit we would take in doing so.”

The 2020 Park City Kimball Arts Festival will take place July 31 – August 2. More information can be found at www.ParkCityKimballArtsFestival.org.

Kimball Art Center Has Big Plans for 50th Annual Park City Kimball Art Festival

Title sponsor Intermountain Park City Hospital helps ‘free the Fest’ for Summit County locals

Park City, UT – Named a “can’t miss summer festival” by Smithsonian Magazine, the award-winning Park City Kimball Arts Festival is prepared to celebrate its 50th anniversary with new activities, experiences, artists, and partners.

This year’s Festival takes place August 2nd – 4th on the town’s historic Main Street, and thanks to the support of the event’s title sponsor, Intermountain Park City Hospital, as well as long-time sponsors Zions Bank and Strong Auto Group, and newcomers Promontory Club and Deer Valley Resort, Summit County residents will enjoy free admission all weekend long.

“We’re thrilled to be able to free the Fest for those who call Summit County home,” noted Kimball Art Center executive director, Jory Macomber. “This benefit is only possible with the support of our sponsors, and they all deserve a heartfelt thanks for recognizing the critical role art plays in our community.”

The perk is limited to Summit County primary residents only and a valid photo ID proving residency is required to claim a free wristband, which allows admission for the entire duration of the Festival.

“We wanted to thank our community for supporting us over the past five decades and recognize such a momentous anniversary,” add Jory. “But the Park City Kimball Arts Festival is also the largest fundraiser of the year for Kimball Art Center, and entry fees allow us to provide art access and education throughout the year. We are incredibly grateful to our sponsors who are covering the cost for Summit County locals to enjoy the Festival all weekend.”

Lori Weston, CEO of Park City Hospital, says sponsoring the Festival aligns with the hospital’s goal of helping people live the healthiest lives possible. “I chose to invest in Kimball Art Center because I believe in the healing power of art and I know access to art education and engagement are critical to the overall health and wellness of a community.”

In addition to this new benefit, there are a number of other exciting happenings planned for this year, including a public exhibition showcasing 50 years of the Arts Festival inside the Rockwell Room at 268 Main Street, a Sunday brunch where guests can mingle with select Festival artists, and, for the first time ever, VIP passes are available for purchase.

While this year’s Festival has a lot of new and exciting changes, one thing will remain the same: juror-selected, innovative artwork. This year, over 1,000 artist applications were received, setting a new record. Of those, 220 artists were selected by a blind jury and invited to participate. A total of 13 mediums will be represented at the Festival.

Canice Harte, Kimball Art Center event manager, says other Festival staples — live music, gourmet cuisine, and more — are also planned. “The ever-popular kids’ area, where the littles can channel their inner Picasso and the adult version of this — Studio on Main — where participants can create unique pieces of art to take home, will be back,” he noted. “And, I’m happy to say Vida Tequila will again be mixing Mexican Mules for those over 21, with proceeds going to Kimball Art Center.”

To save money and time, those who don’t live in Summit County are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance online. Tickets are just $12 for adults and $5 for kids when purchased before the Festival. Adult tickets increase to $15 at the gate. Those who live in Summit County and are eligible for free admission must still register online in advance. All ticketing information, as well as a complete list of Festival activities, artists, and more is available at: ParkCityKimballArtsFestival.org.

Complimentary media passes are available for members of the press who wish the cover the event. Please email amy.roberts@kimballartcenter.org for more information.

The 49th Annual Park City Kimball Art Festival Adds Mixers, Makers, and More

July 10, 2018 by Kimball Art Center Leave a Comment

Park City, UT – Named a “can’t miss summer festival” by Smithsonian Magazine, the 49th annual Park City Kimball Arts Festival will take place August 3rd – 5th on the town’s Historic Main Street.

“We’re thrilled to welcome over 225 juror-selected artists from around country,” noted Festival manager, Allison Webb. “While the innovative artwork across twelve different mediums is always the focus, there are several new features this year we’re pretty excited about as well.”

Among them, the Park City Kimball Arts Festival is adding tequila to the mix. Attendees 21 + can explore the Vida Tequila lounge and enjoy a specialty cocktail — the Vida MargARTrita — crafted just for Arts Fest. Additionally, Kimball Art Center teachers will host a Studio on Main, allowing participants to create unique pieces of art to take home. And if that doesn’t have you spinning, this surely will — Peloton will be
set up with a chance to experience its indoor cycling bike with live or on-demand classes.

“And of course, we’ll have the live music, beer gardens, kids’ area, and gourmet cuisine the event has become known for,” added Allison. “And Festival After Dark is back with concerts, a free film at City Park, and the symphony. We’re also partnering with local art galleries and showcase a weekend-long Gallery Stroll.”

Presented by Zions Bank, the Park City Kimball Arts Festival is the Kimball Art Center’s largest fundraiser and allows the organization to provide free year-round exhibitions, education, and creative community events. Arts Fest draws a crowd of over 53,000 people and brings more than $20 million in economic impact to the state of Utah each year.

To save money and time, the public is encouraged to purchase tickets in advance online. “Tickets are just $12 for adults and $5 for kids when purchased before the Festival,” Allison noted. “Adult tickets increase to $15 at the gate, and those with advanced tickets can quickly exchange them for a wristband and avoid waiting in line.”

Tickets are on sale now at ParkCityKimballArtsFestival.com. A complete list of Festival activities, artists, an interactive walking map, and other information is also available on the site.

Complimentary media passes are available for members of the press who wish the cover the event. Please email amy.roberts@kimballartcenter.org for more information.
