Claire Sherman’s paintings in her show, Here Now, at the Kimball Art Center explore our relationship to the natural world. Ranging from representing the overwhelming scale of coastal Redwoods to recent paintings that focus on dense and tangled spaces and plants, Sherman’s paintings address some of the complicated new environments we are creating, full of both worry and hope. Sherman is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Art Department at Drew University in NJ, and is represented by DC Moore Gallery in NY and Patron Gallery in Chicago.
