In this workshop, exhibiting artist Xi Zhang will focus on techniques for generating art ideas that are abnormal and unexpected. Through lecture and group discussions, participants will practice how to construct and deconstruct their original ideas and references in order to achieve new methods of thinking about and making art. Contemporary artists such as Rebecca Horn, Marlene Dumas, Nick Cave, and Tenmyouya Hisashi will be used as examples. No art background is needed, and the workshop is open to anyone age 12 or older. Pencil and notebook are required materials.
