Matt Garretson, Jonah Ritter, and Kelly Manning join the organization as Kimball Art Center enters a pivotal chapter in planning its future home
Kimball Art Center has welcomed Matt Garretson, Jonah Ritter, and Kelly Manning to its Board of Trustees, bringing new legal, architectural, development, and community expertise to the organization at a pivotal moment in its 50-year history.
The three trustees join as Kimball Art Center advances plans for a future permanent home at Kimball Junction. The organization is currently in the process of selecting an architect from three internationally recognized firms: Herzog & de Meuron, Michael Maltzan Architecture, and Snøhetta. The incoming trustees will help guide Kimball Art Center as the project moves into its next stages and the vision for a new cultural home begins to take shape.
“We are thrilled to welcome Matt, Jonah, and Kelly to the Board at such an important moment for Kimball Art Center,” says Adam Himoff, Chair of the Kimball Art Center Board of Trustees. “Each brings a distinct perspective and an impressive depth of experience. Just as importantly, all three care deeply about this community and the role art can play within it. Their leadership will be invaluable as we embark on this next chapter.”
Matt Garretson is a nationally recognized attorney and the founder of Garretson, LLC and Jaine.ai, an AI-powered platform that helps people understand their options in legal settlements. He has been appointed by federal and state courts as the neutral overseer of some of the nation’s largest settlement programs, including those for the World Trade Center, Deepwater Horizon, and NFL Concussion cases. A Yale graduate, he served on the board of Chicago Theological Seminary through two leadership transitions and multiple advancement campaigns. An art collector from a family rooted in the arts, Matt and his wife, Jillian, call Park City their forever home.
Jonah Ritter, AIA, LEED AP, is an architect with 30 years of experience guiding projects from initial design concept through construction. Registered in Utah and Minnesota, he has held senior design roles at Method Studio, SRa Architecture and Interiors, HGA Architects and Engineers, and AECOM/Ellerbe Becket, working on educational, civic, healthcare, and mixed-use projects across the U.S. and abroad. He holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Minnesota. Raised amid Minneapolis’s rich arts culture, Jonah and his family are regulars at KAC classes, exhibitions, and the Arts Festival. His experience in architecture, design, and construction will bring an especially relevant perspective as Kimball Art Center plans its future home.
Kelly Manning has called Park City home since 2014, devoting the past decade to community advocacy, nonprofit governance, and development. She recently completed a term as Board Chair of Park City READS, serves on the Park City Education Foundation board and its Development and Executive Committees, and was a trustee of The McGillis School, where she served on its capital campaign committee. She also sits on the Park City Community Foundation’s Development Committee. Professionally, her background spans marketing, sales, event planning, and culinary arts. Her daughter is an alumna of KAC’s Young Artists’ Academy and now studies Fine Art and Art History.
The leadership transition comes as Kimball Art Center approaches its 50th anniversary and prepares for one of the most consequential periods in the organization’s history.
The Board also recognizes the service of departing trustees Carol Hodgeman, Dana Gers, Paul Aronzon, and Bobbie Greenfield.
Hodgeman concludes her Board service after multiple board terms as a dedicated advocate for Kimball Art Center and, in particular, its exhibition program. Throughout her tenure, she championed the importance of bringing ambitious exhibitions, internationally recognized artists, and significant artistic voices to Park City, helping reinforce Kimball Art Center’s commitment to presenting world-class contemporary art within the community. Similarly, Dana, Bobbie, and Paul lent enormous professional expertise and enthusiasm for KAC’s programming and mission.
“We are deeply grateful to Carol, Dana, Paul, and Bobbie for the care and insight they have given the Art Center,” Himoff says. “They deserve an enormous thank you for their investment in the organization and their influence over all the incredible steps we have taken in the last year.”
