We’re thrilled to announce a major milestone in the future of Kimball Art Center: our Board of Directors has unanimously selected internationally acclaimed architecture practice Herzog & de Meuron as the Design Architect for our future home in Kimball Junction.

Founded in Basel, Switzerland, Herzog & de Meuron is recognized for its transformative cultural projects, including Tate Modern in London, Pérez Art Museum Miami, and Calder Gardens in Philadelphia. Their selection marks an exciting next step in our vision for a new cultural destination serving Park City, Summit County, and the broader region.

After an extensive selection process that began earlier this year, we found a partner who shares our ambition to rethink what an arts institution can be for its community. Together, we envision a place that brings exhibitions, educational programs, creative exploration, and community gathering under one roof.

Our future home will be the first building purpose-designed to support the full range of Kimball Art Center’s exhibitions, education programs, and community engagement initiatives. Situated in Kimball Junction, the site offers extraordinary natural surroundings, expansive views of the Utah Olympic Park and Swaner Preserve, and an opportunity to create an accessible, welcoming cultural resource rooted in our mountain community.

As we celebrate 50 years of inspiring, educating, and connecting through art, this partnership represents an exciting step toward the next 50. We look forward to working with Herzog & de Meuron, our community, and project partners to bring this vision to life.
