Advancing your Glaze Game is a two-day in-depth workshop on developing strategies and styles for those with beginner to advanced ceramic experience. Students should expect to gain a broad understanding of how glaze and surface materials are structured, application techniques, and troubleshooting post-fired work. The workshop will include related research and examples while encouraging experimentation and group collaboration.
Surface techniques for greenware work will include using colored clay, underglazes, slips, and other pre-bisque options. Glaze applications will include layering interaction, creating depth and texture, glaze mistakes, and refiring work. Students should come with an understanding of the basics of working in clay. Attendees are highly encouraged to bring at least one bisque piece for testing techniques.
