Backyard Picnics

Build a picnic table in your backyard and invite your neighborhood birds and squirrels.

Materials needed:

Popsicle sticks, glue gun or liquid glue, felt or fabric scraps, treats for birds and squirrels, bottlecaps.

This class meets on Zoom.

Registration closes 2hrs before start of class. At this time, 2 hrs before the start of class, an email reminder will be sent out to registrants before with Zoom link.

Front Page Appreciation for Teachers

Is your teacher a front-page hero? Thank the educator in your life with a newspaper flower bouquet to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Day.

Materials needed:

Newspaper, scissors, liquid glue, markers, stapler.

This class meets on Zoom.

Imagination & Illustration – SOLD OUT

Over the course of four weeks, kids will practice and develop their drawing skills as they learn illustration techniques. A variety of prompts each week will keep kiddos engaged as they find their voice and style.

Materials needed:

Paper, pencils, pens, colored pencils, eraser, markers.

It’s not what it seems WBSAS Art Class 2

This year’s Wasatch Back Student Art Show will be a virtual presentation of the creativity of our community’s young artists. The annual Wasatch Back Student Art Show is open to all K-12 students residing in or attending public, private, charter, or homeschools in Summit and Wasatch counties.

The 2020 theme is: “It’s Not What It Seems.” In this free online class, student artists will consider what this theme means to them and draw, sketch, or illustrate their ideas with encouragement and guidance from Kimball Art Center’s education director, Heather Stamenov. Students will learn skills and techniques to express their unique voice and create artwork they’ll submit for the exhibition.

The Wasatch Back Student Art Show is sponsored by the Tomilee Tilley Family Fund.

Pencils, paper, colored pencils, crayons, ruler, eraser.

3 Weeks of Playful Paper for Kids

March 31, 2020 by

We’ll explore a variety of ways to give volume and life to paper. Kids will discover ways paper can mimic soft flowing forms found in nature and learn to make sculptures by simply cutting and gluing.

Materials needed:

Paper, pencil, glue, scissors, ruler, markers or paint.
