Wearable Ceramics

Turn clay into jewelry, charms, and small functional pieces in this creative camp for tweens! Students will explore handbuilding techniques to craft various accessories and even tiny jewelry boxes. Emphasis is on personal style, detail, and finishing skills so every piece is ready to show off or give as a gift. Perfect for young artists who love to make wearable art!

Note on firing: All work will be fired and ready for pick up in the Kimball Art Center 7 days after your class. We do not ship class work. If artwork is not picked up after 60 days it will be recycled. *Since artwork may look different after firing, make your pottery or sculpture recognizable by carving a signature into your piece. On the last day of camp, please join us for an art show to photograph work before it gets fired!

From bracelets to pins, design art that you can wear using different craft materials each day. The perfect camp for kiddos who love beading and sewing!

  • Class does not meet on August 7th due to the Kimball Arts Festival.

 

 

Jewelry: Rings & Things Set With Gemstones

by

Design and make a ring or pendant in sterling silver set with a cabochon gemstone.  Students learn how to solder and bezel set a cabochon stone.

Prerequisite:  none

All levels from zero experience on up are welcome.  Repeat students will advance their skills per their unique needs.

Jewelry: Earrings & Pendants Workshop

Design and make earrings and pendants in sterling silver.  Students learn how to use basic jewelers tools to saw, pierce, file, form and hammer textures into metal.

Prerequisite:  none 

All levels from zero experience on up are welcome.  Repeat students will advance their skills per their unique needs.

Jewelry: Torched Enamel Workshop (1 Day)

An evening of making colorful and fun earrings and pendants.  Students learn how to add color to copper shapes using powdered glass enamel and drawing designs onto their shapes with graphite pencils.  All is made permanent with the torch!
