Students will have the opportunity to work on paper and canvas using pencils, pens, markers, paint, watercolors, and eco-friendly spray paint to create various surfaces of color. Paintings will then be torn, cut, and folded to assemble a mixed media collage.
Mixed Media
eARTh Friendly
Trash or treasure? We let our students decide! This class encourages kids to use discarded items to create art. Recycling, upcycling and sustainability are their own art form!
Try Before You Buy
Consider these two full days of art camp a tasting menu of sorts. Students will be exposed to a variety of themes, media and techniques; allowing them to discover and develop an interest before committing to a week-long class.
Drumleaf Binding for Books
Take a drumleaf binding workshop taught by visiting artist Nicole Pietrantoni, whose work will be featured in the Kimball’s Main Gallery (Nicole Pietrantoni: Alas, Alack, February 10–April 15, 2018)! The drumleaf binding is a wonderful structure for artists. Due to the unique spine and assembly, the book lays completely flat when open so it is perfect for artwork, drawing and sketches. In this workshop, students will create a blank drumleaf book with a decorative hard cover. Participants are encouraged to bring decorative papers and collage materials that they can use for their book covers.
Superhero Workshop for Kids
In this amazing workshop of adventure and fun kids will imagine themselves and their favorite characters through superhero art projects. Super-girls and super-boys will strengthen their creative muscles and practice drawing and painting skills while making awesome masks, props and fantasy worlds for their super-adventures.
Making Harry Potter Trinkets
Students will learn about the origins of the mythical creatures featured in the Harry Potter Saga. They will be making owl sculptures, Harry Potter glasses, a wand, a snitch and more! The last day of class, students will create their own imaginary mythical creature using the processes learned.
