Cartooning 101: Pen, Ink and Markers

February 21, 2025 by

Sculpture Meets Upcycling

February 21, 2025 by

In this camp, we will practice thinking outside of the box by turning recycled materials into art.  Each project will start with a limited number of supplies from the recycling center, and a prompt. For example, students could be given lightbulbs, wire, and duct tape, and asked to create “movement”.  The artists will be challenged to see objects for their shapes rather than their functions.  They will strengthen their creative brain by defining a single-word concept with simple, raw materials. Seeing the world for its possibilities is a problem-solving skill that is valuable in all aspects of life. This camp is for 10-14 yr olds.

Zines and Bookmaking

February 21, 2025 by

Unleash your creativity in our Zines and Bookmaking camp! Learn the art of crafting your own zines and handmade books, exploring DIY storytelling through design. From creating unique layouts to binding your own pages, you’ll gain the skills to turn your ideas into physical works of art. Perfect for teens who love to write, draw, or explore new ways to express themselves! This camp is for teens 13-18 yr olds. Due to the Fourth of July holiday, this will be a 4-day week with no camp on July 4.

Watercolor Techniques

February 21, 2025 by

Watercolor is not usually thought of as a bold medium. In fact, it is not always thought of as a stand-alone professional medium. In this camp we will challenge that myth using different techniques like layering washes, masking for contrast, and fearlessly applying bright color combinations. We will practice controlled, wet-on-dry painting, as well as loose wet-on-wet application for different effects.  We will also learn the importance of preparing and planning each piece in order to gain confidence in controlling the medium without compromising the beauty of its natural flow.  Ultimately, artists will come away with a new appreciation for the limitlessness of watercolor. This camp is great for teens 13-18 yr olds looking to dive into the world of watercolor!

for his frescos and sculptures. We’ll look at the work and techniques of famous artists throughout history and blend their styles with our own. This camp is for 10-14 year olds.
