Trash or treasure? We let our students decide! This class encourages kids to use discarded items to create art. Recycling, upcycling and sustainability are their own art form!
Monday
Illustrious Illustrations
Students learn drawing basics to illustrate their own characters and scenes from their favorite stories. This class will help children develop their own drawing style, while teaching observation, proportion and shape.
Inner Engineer
Channel your child’s inner engineer in this 3D machine making class. Using cardboard, clay, wire, and papier-mâché, students will create cars, robots and other simple machines with art.
Understanding Glazes
And now to glaze! Come learn about the materials that make up a glaze. This class will begin with a basic understanding of the materials we use to make glazes, including where they come from and what role they play in your favorite glaze. We will end the class with some glaze application techniques. Students will make their own forms for application. Previous clay experience recommended. Due to drying and firing times, pottery will be ready to pick up 12-14 days after the class session is finished.
Intro to Printmaking Methods for Teens II
This course for teens will focus on demonstrating various printmaking techniques and provide students with hands-on experience making collagraphs, relief prints and monotypes. Students will have an opportunity to explore with their new knowledge of printmaking by developing mixed media works using a combination of print methods and drawing media.
Paper Mache Animal Heads
This enticing project will surely be a good time. Students will shape a head with balled up newspaper. Once it’s formed the paper mache fun begins! Covering every inch of the sculpture in the gooey goodness that firmly hardens provides a great painting texture. Acrylic paints will be used when the animal has been sculpted to bring the creature to life!
