Magic Hour Lighting: Photography Techniques

April 4, 2017 by

The Focus of this workshop will be to master natural light and use it to your advantage in your photographs to create an image you are proud of! The workshop will begin with in classroom instruction with new tools and techniques that you can use when we go out in the field to shoot. As this is a multi-day class, we will debrief in the beginning of each class where we will review and critique together the work done the evening before. We will then head out into the field to shoot during Magic hour through Sunset. Understanding and using ambient light is the most important tool to create amazing landscapes. The class will be held in the evening in order for students to practice their new skills in the best possible light.

Rebekah believes in a “learn by doing” approach as the best way to grow as a photographer. In the field, Rebekah will answer questions and solve problems as they arise while you are shooting. She will take you to some of her favorite spots for beautiful evening landscapes in and around the Park City area.  Please bring a tripod and filters if you have them.

Clay Studio Sampler

April 4, 2017 by

A perfect class for beginners!  Make a different project while learning a new technique each week.  Wheel throwing, a range of handbuilding techniques, and glazing are all covered during this fun, intensive class.  By the end of the class, students will complete at least four projects, and gain a better understanding and appreciation of the ceramic medium. Due to drying and firing times, pottery will be ready for pick up 10-12 days after class has ended.

Mosaics 101 & 201 Workshop

April 4, 2017 by

Learn all you have ever wanted to know about mosaics. This class is meant for both beginners and experienced students. All materials and tools are provided to create a one-of-a-kind masterpiece made of glass you have nipped yourself. We learn how to design, choose color, form the lines and shape the end in a fantastic piece of art. Beginners work on a project that will be on a shape of your choosing (shrine, heart, crown is my favorite). By the end of class  you will be confident in all the skills needed to create art in this medium. Returning students will work on their own custom personal project, and are welcome to personally consult Katherine with their ideas and design (email us for Katherine’s contact details). A wonderful class for both beginners and experts to explore the mosaic medium!

Pocket Sketching Refresher

April 4, 2017 by

This course has been programmed for students who have already taken the Pocket Sketching Workshop with Kath in past years, and are interested in a refresher course.  Students who have not taken Kath’s course previously should not enroll.  During the refresher course, Kath will emphasize speed, sketching in public, and editing to the focal point. Students who enroll should bring their Pocket Sketching kit along with the light materials list (sent to you via email upon enrollment). Kath will have some kits available for purchase if needed. Get outside and back in the groove with Kath!

Introduction to Wheel Throwing

April 3, 2017 by

A series of skill-building practices will introduce you to the joys of working with clay.  The basic skills of pottery making will be introduced through step-by-step instruction in clay preparation, throwing on the wheel, trimming, and the firing process.  Students will bisque fire and glaze successful work. Due to drying and firing times, pottery will be ready for pick up 10-12 days after class has ended.

Wheel Throwing for Teens II

April 2, 2017 by

All skill levels welcome! Learn the tricks of success for making clay objects on the wheel. If you have never thrown before this is the best class to learn the basics of the potter’s wheel. Students are also welcome to practice their skills for improvement. We will start with cups and bowls for students to gain confidence on the wheel.  As students advance, they are welcome to come up with their own sculptural wheel thrown designs. Due to drying and firing times, pottery will be ready to pick up 10-12 days after the class session is finished.
