Wheel Throwing for Kids II

April 1, 2017 by

Learn how to create wheel thrown pottery in this class.  After a demonstration on the first day, students will work on the wheel to perfect their techniques and create wheel thrown forms!  Students must have previous experience in handbuilding with clay.  Students must have strength in their arms in order to control the clay on the wheel in this class! Due to drying and firing times, pottery will be ready to pick up 10-12 days after the class session is finished.

Around the World Clay

April 1, 2017 by

Students will learn about art and culture around the world in this class!  For each class, students will focus on a different area of the globe, the customs and culture in that region, followed by an clay project that is themed around that geographic location.  Students will glaze all work with bright underglazes!  Due to drying and firing times, pottery will be ready to pick up 10-12 days after the class session is finished.  This class will surely be an exceptionally fun adventure!

Digital Photography for Kids

April 1, 2017 by

Kids have fun getting outside and learning about in-camera control.  Learn about the functions in a digital camera while in automatic and manual settings.  Each day students will show photographs on a projector and then discuss new techniques. Students go out in the field and take photos with the instructor during class exploring beautiful Park City. Students will either walk to local destinations, or will take city transit to visit the White Barn or other picturesque places.  Students will have a small collection of photographs that tell a story by the last day of class, plus the skills and knowledge to continue on their own. This is a great way to have students learn to take awesome summer photos.  No cell phone cameras, please.

Mixed Media Sculpture for Kids

April 1, 2017 by

Using a variety of different mediums, kids will explore the basics of 3D art. Creativity abounds as sculptures big and small are formed from the students’ imagination.  Kids will work with clay, paper mache, wire, sculpey polymer clay, and cardboard in making individual and collaborative sculptures.

Upcycle Art: Newspaper Creations

April 1, 2017 by

Kids explore the endless options of art making using one simple material: newspaper!  Kids will make intricate butterfly sculptures, flowers with bursting colorful petals, and sparkly fish throughout the week using upcycled materials.  Keep it simple and get creative!

Star Wars Terrariums

April 1, 2017 by

Students will create their favorite Star Wars characters, then create a miniature environment for them to become a mini terrarium. First, students will make Star Wars characters out of felt, yarn, popsicle sticks, air-dry clay, or other various supplies. They will then decide what kind of environment their characters should be in. Students will search outside for found objects, such as dirt, sand, rocks, sticks, etc., then place their characters inside.  Kids will walk away with an awesome terrarium for display.  Students will also be making Star Wars themed paintings and drawings to pair with their terrarium.  May the creative force be with you!
