Intuitive Painting Workshop: Process-based Art-making
In this workshop, we will explore process-based artmaking in a way that is grounded in the moment. Often, there is an expectation or ‘plan’ for how a painting will go, we will learn how to let the artwork reveal itself to us over time, how to listen, how to have a true and honest dialogue with what is right in front of us. By letting the art become what it wants to be, discoveries are made and exciting and unexpected things can happen, which gives a certain freedom and life to the work of art.
Daytime Wheel Throwing Session 2
A beginner class with a series of skill-building practices will introduce you to the joys of working with clay on the wheel. The basic skills of wheel-thrown pottery will be introduced through step-by-step instruction in clay preparation, throwing on the wheel, trimming, handles and the firing process. Students will learn how to throw a cylinder, cup, bowl, and plate. All work will be fired and ready for pick up at the Kimball Art Center 7-14 days after your class. We do not ship class work. If artwork is not picked up after 60 days it will be recycled. *Since artwork may look different after firing, make your pottery or sculpture recognizable by carving a signature into your piece.
