Reflecting on 2024: A Thank You to Our Kimball Art Center Family From Executive Director, Aldy Milliken
December 20, 2024
Dear Friends of the Kimball Art Center,
As we reflect on 2024, we are filled with immense gratitude for your continued support and participation in making this year exceptional for our artistic community. The Kimball Art Center has remained committed to its mission to inspire, educate, and connect through art, and your engagement has been instrumental in bringing this vision to life.
Through our vibrant exhibition programs curated by Nancy Stoaks, we’ve showcased diverse perspectives and innovative artistic expressions that have challenged and delighted our visitors. Looking back the exhibitions programs of Lee Mingwei: The Gifts of Connection, Under Construction with Lewis Baltz and Rodrigo Valenzuela, In the Shadow of the Wall, with Tanya Aguiñiga, Margarita Cabrera, Teddy Cruz and Fonna Forman, Ana Teresa Fernández, Christina Fernandez, Pablo López Luz, Hector Dionicio Mendoza, Elizabeth Pineda, Jami Porter Lara, Rael San Fratello, Jorge Rojas, Stephanie Syjuco, Kelly Tapia-Chuning, Consuelo Jimenez Underwood, and the Undocumented Migration Project and Less Bad with Karl Haendel, represent some of the most exciting contemporary artists of our era.
Our partnerships with local schools and organizations have deepened, creating meaningful connections beyond our walls. Educational initiatives directed by Heather Stamenov and our education team have reached new heights, with expanded workshop offerings, classes, and outreach programs that have touched lives across all age groups. Our Education Visual Art (EVA) program contributes thousands of art experiences for area elementary school students. The Young Artist Academy (YAA) includes a strong cohort of advanced students who further refine their creative voices. Other highlights include The Golden Art Club, Noon-Years Eve, Winter and Summer Camps, Monster Draw in collaboration with the Arts Council, and the Pottery Olympics.
The Kimball Arts Festival, in collaboration with Park City Municipal, is a nationally recognized arts festival on our historic Main Street led by Hillary Gilson. It marks the summer creative calendar with about 30,000 visitors and 200 artists. Our development team, led by Lacey Cole-Rae and Jaimie Mitchell, organizes essential relationships with our members and donors. With Board support, they manage the Art Soireé, Art-Nite, and our world-class trips to destinations across the globe, all signature moments in our cultural calendar.
Throughout 2024, we’ve strengthened our commitment to accessibility in the arts, ensuring that our programs and exhibitions remain open and welcoming to all community members. Looking ahead, we are excited about the future of the Kimball Art Center and our role in Park City’s vibrant cultural landscape. Your continued support enables us to nurture creativity, foster dialogue, and build community through the transformative power of art. Thanks to Annie Tucker, our Board Chair, and all our Board of Directors, who provide oversight, share enthusiasm, advocate for the arts, and collaborate to set ambitious goals for our organization. By working together to realize our vision for a connected world through art, we are closer to our goal of a permanent home for Kimball Art Center.
We invite you to join us in celebrating the arts and supporting our mission as we grow and evolve. Whether through attending exhibitions, participating in classes, or contributing to our programs, your involvement makes a lasting impact on the cultural fabric of our community.
Thank you for being an essential part of our artistic journey. We look forward to sharing more inspiring moments with you in the coming year. Thanks to our community members, elected officials, staff, and board members for working towards that vision.
With sincere appreciation and Happy Holidays!
Aldy Milliken
