If you love cartoons, get ready for an unforgettable week! Learn all about different cartooning styles and techniques,explore character creation, storyboarding and learn about the history of cartooning. From quick sketches to color drawings, students will create many exciting pieces by the end of the camp week. This camp is for 6-12 yr olds.
Week 2 (June 15th-19th)
Wheel Throwing 2 Kids
Get ready to get your hands dirty in Wheel Throwing Camp! In this hands-on camp, young artists will learn the basics of pottery and wheel throwing. They’ll discover how to shape clay, create bowls, cups, and other fun pieces on the pottery wheel, all while exploring their creativity and learning new skills. Perfect for kids who love getting crafty and want to try something new with clay! Kids Ages 8+ only.
Note on firing: All work will be fired and ready for pick up in the Kimball Art Center 7-14 days after your class. We do not ship class work. If artwork is not picked up after 60 days it will be recycled. *Since artwork may look different after firing, make your pottery or sculpture recognizable by carving a signature into your piece.
On the last day of camp, please join us for an art show to photograph work before it gets fired !
Learning from the Masters: FUNdamentals of Art
Step into the world of art history and creativity as we explore artists like Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo! In this camp, kids will learn the basics of drawing, sculpture, and painting while discovering the techniques and secrets behind some of the greatest works of all time. Through fun, hands-on projects, young artists will channel their inner masters and create their own masterpieces, all while gaining an appreciation for the timeless skills that made these artists legends.This camp is for 6-12yr olds.
Under the Sea Art
Join us for Under the Sea Art for Toddlers! This camp is all about exploring the wonders of the ocean through fun, hands-on art projects. Little artists will create sea creatures, splash in colors, and make their own ocean-inspired masterpieces using simple materials. With plenty of opportunities for messy play and imagination, toddlers will love bringing the underwater world to life while developing their fine motor skills and creativity!
CANCELLED- “The Compass” Paper Mache Camp(Grades 3-5)
Unlock your creativity and sculpt your imagination in our paper mache class designed specifically for kiddos. Dive into the world of three-dimensional art and create a few different projects throughout the week! No class 6/19. This camp is offsite at Mcpolin Elementary School.
Oil Painting
Express yourself while exploring oil painting. Practice the basics of color theory, proper application of paint, and fundamentals of composition and design. Because each student is unique, projects may be altered and one-on-one instruction will be given to suit each student’s skills, talents, knowledge, and interest level.
