Winter Break Art Drop In- Air Dry Clay

Explore your creativity during the winter break and drop-in to our studios between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m for a winter themed art project. Unlike a typical class, this open studio lab is self-directed, with KAC staff standing by for assistance. Plan on one hour to complete the project, themes vary each day and are appropriate for kids and adults! Kids under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Cost is $5 in advance and $10 at the door.

Theme: Create with self-hardening clay

Winter break drop-ins are for creatives of ALL ages. To include everyone in the fun, stations are set up with age appropriate variations on the theme. 

Folks 13+: Make beautiful pendants to wear.

Youth 6-12: Create ornaments using stamps.

Kiddos 6 and under: Explore shapes and textures with clay to make ornaments.

Theme: Holiday Yarn Crafts

Winter break drop-ins are for creatives of ALL ages. To include everyone in the fun, stations are set up with age appropriate variations on the theme. 

Folks 13+: Wrap and weave string to shape a star.

Youth 6-12: Bundle yarn to make crafts with poms.

Kiddos 6 and under: Make snowflakes with yarn sequins and popsicle sticks.

Folks 13+: Explore bookbinding techniques and create a small notebook

Youth 6-12: Sketch a snow adventure inspired flip book 

Kiddos 6 and under: Fill in a sensory winter themed journal while exploring art materials.

Noon Years Eve

Noon Year’s Eve is a fun and creative way for the littles to ring in the New Year at a kid-appropriate time!

Kids under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Price is $35 per child, adults are free. Light refreshments will be provided.

Schedule-

11-11:15: Welcome | Party poppers and festive mask making

11:25 – 11:55: Star memory box art activity

11:55 – noon: Countdown celebration 

12:05 -12:30 Food art, collaborative mural, photo booth

 

Morning at the Museum: Make Bugs!

Family friendly tours to explore our current exhibition. Educators foster youth friendly discussion focused on noticing elements in the art, learning vocabulary and supporting creative ideas. Tours are followed by an art making experience that links to the themes and materials in the exhibition.

Make bugs after Jennifer Angus’ exhibition. We will be using recycled materials and clay. $5 per child. Youth under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Mini Artists

A time to create for budding artists! Mini Artist is carefully designed by Kimball Art Center staff to support growing toddlers and their interest in art making. This class includes meaningful studio time in our Kimball Art Center studios with experiential art activities, exciting and age appropriate gallery tours, play, and sensory experiences. Mini Artists classes are held from 4-5PM for children 3-5 years old. Each session is $15 and includes all required materials.
