Encaustic and Printmaking Studio

February 27, 2026 by

With local encaustic artist, Shanoa Allowitz, tweens will dive into the exciting worlds of printmaking and encaustic (wax) art, exploring new ways to create layered, textured artwork. Over the course of the camp, they’ll experiment with techniques, develop their own designs, and gain hands-on experience in this unique medium. This camp encourages creativity, artistic risk-taking, and a deeper understanding of how different mediums can work together to make striking, original art, no experience necessary!

This camp is suited for ages 10-14 only.

Mural Studio: Spray Paint & Public Art

February 27, 2026 by

In this teen camp, students will learn the fundamentals of spray painting and large-scale mural design while working collaboratively on bold, original artworks. Teens will develop concepts, practice safe spray paint techniques, and bring their designs to life on large mural panels. Select finished murals may be displayed at Kimball Arts Fest, giving students the experience of creating art for a real public audience.

Suited for ages 13-18 only. No camp July 24th.

Character Sculptures in Clay

February 26, 2026 by

Bring your favorite characters to life in clay! Teens will explore handbuilding and sculpting techniques to create detailed figures, imaginative creatures, and unique personalities. From pets and heroes to original creations, campers will learn how to shape, texture, and express character through clay, turning ideas into three-dimensional works of art.

Note on firing: All work will be fired and ready for pick up in the Kimball Art Center 7 days after your class. We do not ship class work. If artwork is not picked up after 60 days it will be recycled. *Since artwork may look different after firing, make your pottery or sculpture recognizable by carving a signature into your piece. On the last day of camp, please join us for an art show to photograph work before it gets fired!

Suited for ages 13-18 only. No camp July 3rd.

Frame by Frame: Stop-Motion Animation Basics

February 26, 2026 by

In this hands-on animation camp, tweens will learn the basics of stop-motion filmmaking while bringing characters, objects, and stories to life one frame at a time. Tweens will explore the fundamentals of stop-motion animation by creating short animated scenes using simple materials and storytelling techniques. Campers will learn how images become motion while developing creativity, problem-solving skills, and teamwork.

This camp is suited for ages 10-14 only. No camp July 3rd.

Gelli Printing & Mixed Media Collage

February 25, 2026 by

With a local artist, explore printmaking as a tool for creative expression in this teen camp! Students will use Gelli plates — see more on Gelli printing here! —  to create layered mono-prints, experimenting with color, texture, stencils, and mark making to design their own handmade collage papers. Throughout the week, teens will transform their prints into a finished mixed-media collage artwork while developing composition skills and personal artistic style. Perfect for artists who enjoy experimentation, layering, and creative risk-taking, no experience necessary

This camp is suited for ages 13-18 only.
