Morning at the Museum

Family friendly tours to explore our current exhibition. Educators foster youth friendly discussion focused on noticing elements in the art, learning vocabulary and supporting creative ideas. Tours are followed by an art making experience that links to the themes and materials in the exhibition.

Relief Printmaking

We will explore the beautiful versatility of creating a relief block. In this class we will learn the techniques of carving an image into linoleum blocks and transferring our designs with ink onto paper. In the future, these blocks can be transferred to a variety of tactile surfaces such as stamps, fabrics and wrapping paper!

Clothed Figure Drawing

Share drawing techniques and skills in a group setting while working with the model to communicate poses and complete timed sketches. Bring your own drawing materials to this open-studio session. Price is per session.

Pick-up your Kimball Art Center Make at Home Clay kit! Our clay instructors will walk students through various making techniques and clay projects virtually. Each kit comes with 6 pounds of clay, your choice of glaze color to be applied by studio staff, list of tools, instructions on setting up your clay making space, and a link to a video lesson. Online videos lessons allow students to work at their own pace. Once registered, you can schedule a time for pick-up of kits and drop-off of projects. Glazed and fired pottery are food safe. Be sure your schedule your drop off time with Kimball Art Center. Glaze will be applied after drop off. For local pick-up only.

The only thing better than an ice cream sundae on a hot late summer day is ice cream from your own personalized bowl! Students will use slab techniques to create textured bowls. Glazed and fired bowls are food safe, perfect for sharing ice cream! Be sure your schedule your drop off time with Kimball Art Center. Glaze will be applied after drop off. All artwork will be ready for pick-up within 3 weeks of drop-off.

 

IMAGINE: Decorative Clay Masks (Make at Home Clay Kit)

Each kit comes with 12 pounds of clay, your choice of glaze color to be applied by studio staff, list of tools, instructions on setting up your clay making space, and a link to a video lesson. Online videos lessons allow students to work at their own pace. Once registered, you can schedule a time for pick-up of kits and drop-off of projects. Glazed and fired pottery are food safe. Be sure your schedule your drop off time with Kimball Art Center. Glaze will be applied after drop off. For local pick-up only.

Decorative Clay Masks: Scary, silly, or serious, students will make a mask using slab forming and modeling techniques. Students will use observation skills to explore expressive qualities of the face in this video class. Be sure to schedule your drop off time with Kimball Art Center. Glaze will be applied after drop off. All artwork will be ready for pick-up within 3 weeks of drop-off.

LEARN: Creature Cup (Make at Home Clay Kit)

Creature Cup: Use your imagination to create a silly or scary creature with teeth, eyes and ears on a cup! These sculptures are great as stand-alone pieces for the mantle or toothbrush holders by the sink! Students will use pinch and coil techniques to form cups and as well as shape parts for expressive faces. Be sure your schedule your drop off time with Kimball Art Center. Glaze will be applied after drop off. All artwork will be ready for pick-up within 3 weeks of drop-off.
