Each weekly session includes demonstrations, hands-on practice, and individualized feedback in a supportive studio environment.

This class is not intended for beginner potters. Please check our calendar for introductory courses.

Found Frames: A Photography Workshop with Alexandra Fuller

January 7, 2026 by

Step into a space of curiosity and wonder in this photography workshop inspired by our current exhibit, Return to Wonder, and led by exhibiting artist Alexandra Fuller. Drawing on ideas from her ongoing series A Participatory Universe, Alex invites participants to consider how framing—not just with a camera, but with our attention—shapes what we see and how we relate to place.

We’ll begin in the classroom at Kimball Art Center, where Alex will offer a short presentation and creative prompts rooted in her artistic process. Then we’ll head out on a group walk around town, discovering and capturing the environment through found or natural “frames.” This project isn’t about technical camera skills—it’s about perspective, play, and perception.

Each participant will have the opportunity to slow down, discover unexpected details, and explore how focused attention can transform the everyday into something extraordinary. The workshop concludes back at Kimball, where we’ll reflect on the experience and share the images created.

Participants must bring their own digital camera that they are comfortable using, whether an iPhone, DSLR, or other device.

Sketches of the Great Salt Lake: Cyanotype Exploration with Alexandra Fuller

January 7, 2026 by

Join Alexandra Fuller, Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter, and Kimball Art Center for a hands-on experiment with photogram and cyanotype processes at the Great Salt Lake.

In parallel with her exhibition at the Kimball Art Center, All Sketches Wish to Be Real, we invite you to join Alexandra Fuller, Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter, and Kimball Art Center for a hands-on exploration of the Great Salt Lake. Guided by a naturalist and inspired by Alex’s cyanotypes, participants will experiment with photogram and cyanotype processes. Each participant will collect objects from the lake’s edge to create their own photogram, and together the group will make a collaborative piece, embracing curiosity, discovery, and play.

Aligned with Swaner’s mission to connect people with the natural world and with their current exhibition Life on the Edge, this workshop takes place at the threshold between land and water in a cold, wet, and salty environment. Dress appropriately for wild weather. Boots are available to borrow. Optional carpooling from Park City with Swaner staff is available. The specific location on the lake will be shared with registrants once signed up.

Come ready to explore, learn and honor this remarkable place.

Cost $40 per participant

Evolving Forms with Clay (2 days)

January 7, 2026 by

Workshop by visiting artist Antra Sinha, featured in All Sketches Wish to be Real.

This weekend workshop is designed for intermediate and advanced students who are comfortable working with clay and want to push their sculptural practice further. Inspired by Antra Sinha’s process, students will explore how original sculptural shapes can emerge through hands on making, repetition, and adjustment rather than following a set project.

Demonstration and guidance will be woven throughout the workshop, alongside plenty of studio practice time. Students will create a series of small sculptural experiments, building, revising, and refining forms while paying attention to balance, structure, and how each piece holds together. With mentoring from the instructor, participants may choose one form to develop into a finished, palm sized sculpture. Featuring a lunchtime Art Talk from Antra on Saturday @ 1:00pm!

This workshop is ideal for students who already have some experience and are interested in experimenting, taking risks, and developing a more personal approach to sculptural making.

Artwork will be fired by our dedicated clay studio staff.

Please note that the firing process takes 7-14 days, and your finished pieces will be available for pick-up only; shipping is not offered for class creations. Remember to collect your masterpiece within 60 days to avoid recycling.
