Clay- Handbuilding

Pottery Pets

Kids will be introduced to coil building, pinch pots, and slab construction as they create animal figures from their imagination. Each class will focus on a different technique and includes painting and glazing. 

All work will be fired and ready for pick up at the Kimball Art Center 14 days after your class. We do not ship class work.

Mugs, Bowls, and Plates

by

Using a variety of different techniques, kids will learn how to create cups, bowls and plates out of ceramics with their hands. On the final day we will paint and glaze them to make them truly unique!

Teeny Tiny Things in Clay

Really love teeny tiny things? Let’s learn to make them in clay! Make tiny fairy tea sets, miniature monsters, teensy-weensy worry dolls, and other pocket-sized projects in this hand building clay camp that celebrates all the small things.

Garden Creations

Make a one-of-a-kind bird feeder, garden gnome, and pot out of clay. Perfect for the garden, front porch, or anywhere our feathered friends can be found.

Playful Practice in Clay Workshop

by

Enliven your clay studio process with game-like exercises to explore your own creative fears and expectations. Gain practical methods to shake up these tendencies. This Workshop will focus on process and play in handbuilding with no goal of making a final ‘product’. Experiments will be fired as mementos of the experience. All work will be fired and ready for pick up 7-14 days after your class. We do not ship class work. If artwork is not picked up after 60 days it will be recycled. 

 

Sculpting a Hand Workshop

Learn to sculpt a life size hand in clay from observation through the practice of proportions and handbuilding techniques. In this workshop the emphasis will be placed on likeness but students are encouraged to experiment with the expressive qualities of a hand. Please bring photo references if you do not wish to reference your own hands. All work will be fired and ready for pick up 7-14 days after your class. We do not ship class work. If artwork is not picked up after 60 days it will be recycled.
