Digital Photography for Kids

April 1, 2017 by

Kids have fun getting outside and learning about in-camera control.  Learn about the functions in a digital camera while in automatic and manual settings.  Each day students will show photographs on a projector and then discuss new techniques. Students go out in the field and take photos with the instructor during class exploring beautiful Park City. Students will either walk to local destinations, or will take city transit to visit the White Barn or other picturesque places.  Students will have a small collection of photographs that tell a story by the last day of class, plus the skills and knowledge to continue on their own. This is a great way to have students learn to take awesome summer photos.  No cell phone cameras, please.

In the Field Photography: Camera Techniques & Lightroom

December 4, 2016 by

In this workshop, learn how to use your camera to your best ability with instructor Rebekah Stevens as she takes you out in the field and teaches landscape photography techniques with an emphasis on natural light.  Most of the class will be spent outside in the field taking photos of the mountains and spring landscapes.  Students will meet at the Park City Library in the morning to discuss goals of the day.  Rebekah will also quickly introduce Adobe Lightroom so that students can familiarize with the software and digitally edit their own photos after the field sessions. Students should come to class with a zip drive of previously shot images so they can practice Lightroom during class. Class size is small, so all levels of experience are welcome as beginner, intermediate and advanced techniques will be taught! At the end of class, students will review photographs as a group and learn how to take better photographs whether you want to take landscapes, or even portraits. No cell phone cameras, please.

This part of the course will be taught during the first class meeting. During the next three weeks. students will review introductory techniques for editing their digital images at the Park City Library.  Stefan will introduce free online resources that students can use to edit their images, and learn about websites that offer free online storage so students can share and store their images. Students will also have the opportunity to upload their images to a blog or an online portfolio so that the students can access their final photos, and add to them even after the class is over.
