Watercolor

Watercolor Level I

Discover the beauty and fluidity of watercolor in this beginner-level class designed to build foundational skills and confidence. Students will learn essential techniques such as wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, color mixing, layering, and brush control while exploring the unique qualities of watercolor.

Through guided exercises and small projects, participants will practice composition, color theory, and more while developing their own artistic voice. This class encourages experimentation and play, helping students become comfortable with watercolor’s unpredictable and dynamic nature.

No prior experience necessary. This is a 6-week course.

Watercolor, Level I, minimum items to bring
  • palette
  • brushes (1″ flat, 1/2″ flat, #8 round, #4 round)
  • paper (sheets or pad, Arches #140 cold press)
  • paints (professional grade)
  • paper towels/shop cloth
  • pencil (#2)
  • white vinyl eraser
  • water container (anything that holds about 1 1/2 to 2 cups of water)
  • small spray bottle (not a misting one)

Watercolor Level II

Expand your watercolor practice in this level II class designed for students ready to push their skills further. Building on foundational techniques, participants will explore more complex methods of watercolor.

This class is intended to be a follow up to Watercolor Level 1 or if you have prior watercolor experience. This is a 6-week course.

Watercolor, Level II – Materials List
  • palette
  • brushes (1″ flat, 1/2″ flat, #8 round, #4 round)

Watercolor: Exploring Habitats and Creatures

Dive into the natural world through watercolor! In this hands-on camp, kids will explore different habitats – forests, oceans, deserts, and more, while also painting the creatures that live there. Campers will learn basic watercolor techniques, experiment with color and texture, and bring animals and their environments to life on paper. Perfect for young artists who love nature, animals, and creative expression!

Camp is suited for ages 6-12 only, no camp on July 3rd.




















Watercolor Fundamentals

With a local watercolor artist, teens will dive into the world of watercolor painting, exploring techniques like wet-on-wet, dry brush, and layering to create vibrant and expressive works of art. They’ll experiment with color blending, brush control, and texture, working on a variety of projects from abstract to representational pieces. By the end of camp, participants will have a collection of watercolor paintings. 

This camp is suited for ages 13-18 only.
