Explore the stars, planets, spaceships, astronauts and even aliens in this multimedia camp. Each day campers will work with a new media from paint to recycled art to create projects inspired by space adventures. This camp is offsite at Mcpolin Elementary School.
Monday
Science and Art
Combine the curiosity of science with the fun of art! From science experiments, to hands-on creative art projects inspired by the study of the natural world, each artwork will be unique!
Stories into Art
Learn about picture book layout, pacing, character design, sketching thumbnail and composition to illustrate a full colored finished piece. Our storyboarding will encourage us to explore humor, wonder, depths of emotion, and the fantastical through our illustrations. The last day will be spent collaborating on a story for an artistic puppet show!
Handbuilding in Clay
Dive into the world of clay as you learn coil, slab, and pinch techniques to create unique sculptures and functional pieces. Unleash your creativity, make new friends, and explore the art of hand-building in a supportive environment with the guidance of an experienced instructor and different projects each day. All work will be fired and ready for pick up at the Kimball Art Center 14 days after your class. We do not ship class work.
Whimsical Clay Creations
In this teen clay camp imagine and engineer sculptural machines using hand-building techniques such as coil and slab building. These whimsical contraptions, reminiscent of Rube Goldberg designs, can serve various purposes: they can perform tasks, enhance decor, or contribute to personal rituals. For example, you might create a clay machine that clears negative thoughts or perhaps a decorative piece that doubles as a candle holder. In this class, the possibilities are endless as we make our clay sculptures interactive!

Wheel Throwing 1
Learn the basics of the potter’s wheel and make clay creations like cups, plates, and bowls. As students advance and build confidence, they can tackle additional wheel-thrown designs.
