If you love cartoons, get ready for an unforgettable week! Learn all about different cartooning styles and techniques,explore character creation, storyboarding and learn about the history of cartooning. From quick sketches to color drawings, students will create many exciting pieces by the end of the camp week.
Monday
Paper Mache Fun
Have fun with paper mache and use your imagination to create oversized animals, pieces of food, and much more. Each sculpture will be made colorful with paint!
Colorful Animals
Dive into the rich colors and patterns of Laurel Burch’s animal art! Her work
will inspire campers to create their own favorite animal drawings, adding elaborate patterns and color schemes. Practice design principles rhythm, movement, pattern, scale and balance.
Art Expression
Express yourself and find the media you love most. Every day of this camp is different, allowing students to experiment with different media. Collage, acrylic painting, drawing, mixed media, print-making, watercolor, pen and ink, and other non-traditional techniques are all options.
Wheel Throwing 1
Learn the basics of the potter’s wheel and make clay creations like cups, plates, and bowls. As students advance and build confidence, they can tackle additional wheel-thrown designs.
All work will be fired and ready for pick up at the Kimball Art Center 14 days after your class. We do not ship class work.
Mugs, Bowls, and Plates
Using a variety of different techniques, kids will learn how to create cups, bowls and plates out of ceramics with their hands. On the final day we will paint and glaze them to make them truly unique!
