Students will create their favorite Star Wars characters, then create a miniature environment for them to become a mini terrarium. First, students will make Star Wars characters out of felt, yarn, popsicle sticks, air-dry clay, or other various supplies. They will then decide what kind of environment their characters should be in. Students will search outside for found objects, such as dirt, sand, rocks, sticks, etc., then place their characters inside. Kids will walk away with an awesome terrarium for display. Students will also be making Star Wars themed paintings and drawings to pair with their terrarium. May the creative force be with you!
Wednesday
Paper Mache Animal Heads for Kids
This enticing project will surely be a good time. Students will shape a head with balled up newspaper. Once it’s formed the paper mache fun begins! Covering every inch of the sculpture in the gooey goodness that firmly hardens provides a great painting texture. Acrylic paints will be used when the animal has been sculpted to bring the creature to life!
Wheel Throwing for Kids I
Learn how to create wheel thrown pottery in this class. After a demonstration on the first day, students will work on the wheel to perfect their techniques and create wheel thrown forms! Students must have previous experience in handbuilding with clay. Students must have strength in their arms in order to control the clay on the wheel in this class! Due to drying and firing times, pottery will be ready to pick up 10-12 days after the class session is finished.
Magic Diorama for Kids
Kids will think outside the box, and inside the box! Kids have fun creating 3-dimensional worlds in shadow boxes. A diorama is magical because it tells a story about the artist. Students will pick a theme (i.e. a dream, a movie, a painter, or a place) and using papers and collage materials will learn how to layer and create perspective inside their mini worlds. Big imaginations are required for this class!
Kids T-Shirt Screen Printing Workshop
Expose your child to a real life printmaking studio and shop! Head over to Motherlode PC (710 Main St #3, Park City, UT) and learn the process of screen printing on t-shirts. Alex and Jesse will demonstrate the process of professional screen printing to students, and then kids will get to try it out on their own! T-shirts and cool designs will be provided for kids to choose from. Every student will get to make one t-shirt, and will walk away with knowledge about a local business. Join the fun!
Wild Clay Kingdom
The various animal kingdoms of the world have many different types of wild animals and habitats. Each day we will focus on a different part of the world and the animals that live there. Then, we will make clay sculptures of those animals and build homes for them. Immerse your kids in the wild clay kingdom! Due to drying and firing times, pottery will be ready to pick up 10-12 days after the class session is finished.
