Figure Drawing Intensive (3 Day)

Over the course of a three day intensive class, students will draw from the figure, developing observational and drawing skills.

Material List:

To Draw With
-1 package of soft vine charcoal (willow will do if vine is unavailable)
-charcoal pencils: soft, medium, hard (and extra hard if you can find it.) 2 of each at least.
-white charcoal (chalk) pencil

-Colored pencils 12-24 pack (Prismacolor, Blick, or Crayola are preferred. Any professional grade colored pencil is suitable.)
-Kneaded eraser
-Blending stump (usually sold in packs of 3.)
-Graphite pencil, mechanical or wooden (This will be used for some sketches. Bring what you have.)To Draw On
-A pad of newsprint, 18×24,  Smooth is best, purchase what surface texture you can find. (No small pads)
-Tan or middle value gray drawing paper. 18×24 or 22×30. Canson paper is most common. Any professional grade drawing paper will do.
-drawing board with clips, large enough to carry 18×24 drawing pad with no overhang.
-Pad of charcoal paper, white, 18×24

Tools
-hobby knife with sharp blade or new replacement blades. (Sharpness is more important than brand. A box cutter with a new blade is also acceptable.)
-Sandpaper stick, for sharpening. (Fine sandpaper sheets will also do. We’ll just need one sheet for the course.)
-Roll of paper towels

Wheel Try It 3 Spring

This is not a typical class, instead, a studio staff member will provide a demonstration at the start of the session in either wheel throwing or hand building techniques. A nominal $25 fee includes enough clay for two completed pieces as well as firing and glazing. All ages are welcome, but children 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Potter’s wheel not recommended for children under 8.

This is not a typical class, instead, a studio staff member will provide a demonstration at the start of the session in either wheel throwing or hand building techniques. Artful Afternoons 10

Create at the Kimball Art Center! Explore the different Kimball Art Center studios with art lessons that connect the elements and principals of art with an exciting theme. Each week introduces students to a creative idea and uses a variety of art materials. Artful Afternoons are held Friday afternoons from 1-3:30PM for youth ages 6-12. Each session is $30 and includes all required materials.
