Unwind from the work week and enjoy your Saturday morning in the studio. This class has been offered because of popular demand! Grab an easel or a drawing horse, bring a pad of paper, your preferred drawing medium, and your creativity. A nude and/or draped model will be present to pose. Students will work with the model to communicate positions, quick draw exercises, or extended time draws, etc., which will allow students to continue their study of the figure. There is no instructor during this open studio session, so it is suggested that students who register have figure drawing experience. Wake & Draw is meant to be a creative meeting place for artistic people to share their techniques and skills on a community setting. Come by and try it! Space is limited to 10 students, so please register in advance to reserve your space.
Saturday
Making Pottery Together: Wheel Throwing II
Learn the basics of wheel throwing! Students will learn how to throw on the wheel and will decorate and add glazes to finish their pieces. A wheel throwing demo will be given and then students will work beside their family member to each create one wheel thrown piece. Students will add hand built embellishments and paint so that their piece is ready to fire in the kilns. Due to drying and firing times, pottery will be ready to pick up 10-12 days after the class session is finished. Please note that children under 7 cannot use a wheel independently as they are not strong enough and must share a wheel with an adult!
Paper Marbling & Origami Workshop
Students will take a crash course in Suminagashi, which is the ancient art of Japanese marbling on paper! Using our secret ingredients, kids will have a blast learning how to marble paper in beautiful colors. While the paper dries, kids will make a small origami sculpture from one piece of paper.
Clay Pots of Gold
Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day! Tots will practice using their hands and building clay pinch pots! Students will also learn coil and slab hand building techniques to create four leaf clovers or rainbows to decorate their St. Patrick’s themed pinch pot. Students will experiment with glazing to create a truly unique piece! Due to drying and firing times, pieces will be ready for pick up 10-12 days after class.

Loving Hands: Ceramic Bowls for Mother’s Day
Go the extra mile for mom this year and make her something she will cherish forever.
