Learn to throw a set of dinnerware including various sizes of dinner plates, bowls, and dessert plates. Gain throwing and trimming practice and techniques to prevent cracks, and to compensate for shrinkage. Previous introductory wheel throwing experience is advised for students to gain the most from this workshop. All work will be fired and ready for pick up 7-14 days after your class. We do not ship class work. If artwork is not picked up after 60 days it will be recycled.
Working ‘en plein air’, use perception to paint your own unique voice in the landscape. Let go of preconceived notions of what a painting should look like, experiment with bold color mixing, loose paint handling, and atypical compositions to learn to trust and find a personal perspective. Day one will focus on playing with color palettes; day two composition and focus and day three on loosening up. Expect one on one attention from the Instructor to support your progress, slideshows and group discussion and feedback.

Learn to cut, place, grout, and finish skills to create a mosaic masterpiece using glass and tile. Self-portraits, pets, and abstract design are all exciting possibilities.
Increase your confidence with handles and spouts and learn many useful techniques in this two day workshop. Starting with a set of mugs, create various pouring vessels, such as water pitchers, tea cups, and cooking bowls. Expect group demonstrations and one on one instruction to develop your clay studio skills. Previous basic wheel throwing experience is advised for students to gain the most from this workshop. Encaustic Painting: Expressing Yourself Through Concept and Process In this two-day workshop we will explore encaustic painting: color, texture, multi-media and conceptual ideas. As we create, we will discuss the history of encaustic painting and look at inspirational examples. Each student will leave with one or two paintings. This is a beginner level course.

Students will enjoy two intensive days learning all tips and tricks related to making lidded vessels. Join us as we simplify this very complicated aspect of the process. We will begin with a deep dive into the world of lidded vessels, various methods, the advantages and disadvantages of each technique. Students will be introduced to upwards of 5 lidded techniques—single-piece to lidded vessel; honey-pot style lid; trick lids; Gallery lids; and cusp lids. Students will learn methods for vessels such as honey jars, bread bakers, urns, teapots, and butter dishes/salt cellars. The two day workshops will allow students to pick a focus, and have ample time to get a sense for the drying times necessary for proper lid trimming and fit. Requirements: Students will benefit most from this class if they have basic wheel-throwing skills. One or two wheel-throwing courses previous to the start of this workshop is advised. Beginner/intermediate to Advanced skills recommended.
