Spend your Sunday morning at the Park City Library with Janice in this crash course in Adobe Illustrator! Adobe Illustrator is a program used by both artists and graphic designers to create vector images. These images will then be used for company logos, promotional uses or even personal work, both in print and digital form. It is typically used to create illustrations, charts, graphs, logos, diagrams, cartoons of real photographs, and more. First, students will sketch with Janice to draft their idea to get started. Then, Janice will lead steps in how to transfer that image to the computer, and will dive into the software to convert lines into vectors and fill with pattern and colors. If you’re interested in learning more about Adobe Illustrator, enroll in our introductory course today! It’ll teach you everything you need to know to get started.

In the Field Photography: Camera Techniques & Lightroom
In this workshop, learn how to use your camera to your best ability with instructor Rebekah Stevens as she takes you out in the field and teaches landscape photography techniques with an emphasis on natural light. Most of the class will be spent outside in the field taking photos of the mountains and spring landscapes. Students will meet at the Park City Library in the morning to discuss goals of the day. Rebekah will also quickly introduce Adobe Lightroom so that students can familiarize with the software and digitally edit their own photos after the field sessions. Students should come to class with a zip drive of previously shot images so they can practice Lightroom during class. Class size is small, so all levels of experience are welcome as beginner, intermediate and advanced techniques will be taught! At the end of class, students will review photographs as a group and learn how to take better photographs whether you want to take landscapes, or even portraits. No cell phone cameras, please.
Encaustic Painting Basics Workshop
The class will begin with a brief discussion of encaustic history and proper safety procedures. There will be discussions of basic concepts of encaustic medium and paint, appropriate supports and grounds, sizing, brushes, and tools. Various techniques of paint application, scraping, and fusing will be introduced, as well as how to create different effects through color, drawing, masking, incising, and different textures. Several mixed media materials and methods will also be presented for the students to explore including stenciling, image transfer, collage, and pastels.
