Kimball Art Center and Park City Summit County Arts Council Present Live Drawing Event, “Monster Drawing Rally”

May 15, 2017 by Kimball Art Center

The Community is Invited to Attend the Engaging Live Drawing Event June 1 from 6:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

Park City, UT – Kimball Art Center (KAC) and Park City Summit County Arts Council (PCSCAC) are proud to present “Monster Drawing Rally,” a live drawing event and party that allows spectators an intimate look at the creative process. Guests will also have the opportunity to interact with local artists and grow their own art collections. The event is designed to increase visibility and accessibility to local artists and their work, a shared goal of the KAC and PCSCAC.

Amy MacDonald, Artistic Director of the KAC, said, “This first-ever live drawing event gives a 360-degree view of the creative process from concept to completion in a fun and engaging way. Watching an artist create work in real time is incredibly inspiring and it’s bound to spark some interesting dialogue between the community during this captivating event.”

During the June 1st reception, artists will mingle with attendees while also taking shifts drawing and making artwork with a variety of media including watercolor, acrylic, graphite, markers and more. Audiences are encouraged to view the creative process in real time to build a deeper appreciation for the local talent. Tickets for the events are on sale now for $20 and will be $25 at the door. Finished drawings are immediately available for purchase for $50 each and proceeds benefit the crucial year-round work of the KAC and PCSCAC. To add to the fun, live music, food and drinks will also be part of the experience.

Local artists Jimmi Toro, Nathan Florence, Sara Shepard Edgar, Jan Massimino, Laurie Eastwood, Jack Thomas, Mike Wong, Kimberly Roush and Jenny Diersen will be participating, as well as many others. The Monster Drawing Rally was inspired by an event produced by Southern Exposure, a nonprofit arts organization in San Francisco.
