Movie Watchers Club Workshop with Utah Film Center

This workshop, lead by members of the Utah Film Center, gives young film viewers an introduction to movies as art, storytelling, and fimmaking.

This workshop is designed for elementary-aged students (kindergarten through fifth grade) to explore the basics of storytelling, genre, style, alongside an introduction to cinematography, production design, sound, and editing. Students will expand their knowledge of movies and have lots of fun in the process! This is the perfect workshop for classes that love a good story and like to look for the details in movies that make them a work of art. This one-hour workshop is a combination of lectures and hands-on activities.
Under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

Watercolor Painting Through the Seasons: Winter Scenes

Let’s have fun painting a few holiday watercolor winter paintings!  In this workshop, we will paint winter scenes.  Students usually can complete paintings in the allotted time and, in many cases, will have these painting framed for the holiday season.  References will be provided and students will follow the instructor’s demos.  

We will break for lunch (one hour).  Please bring your own lunch.

Painting through the seasons: Fall and Winter Watercolor Workshop

Autumn leaves are falling and Jack Frost will soon be nipping at our toes.   It’s time to bring the beauty of the outdoors into the studio and paint a few seasonally inspired pieces.  We will paint an autumn inspired scene as well snowy winter painting.  References will be provided and students will follow the instructor’s demos. 

We will break for lunch (one hour).  Please bring your own lunch.

Painting Through the Seasons: Spring and Summer Watercolor Workshop

Spring is in the air and summer is fast approaching! We will bring the beauty of the outdoors into the studio and will paint a few seasonally inspired pieces.  This is a great way to practice your “en plein air” skills before taking your paints outdoors or learn some new watercolor techniques.  References will be provided and students will follow the instructor’s demos.

Sketch, Paint and Go: How to Complete a Travel Sketchbook

This course will focus on developing skills and techniques that will help you have a more successful experience sketching outdoors or while traveling.  This class will include some discussion about design, layout, materials and general tips as well as drawing and sketching exercises. We will experiment with a variety of materials including pencil, pen, ink, and watercolor paints.  

We will break for lunch (one hour).  Please bring your own lunch.
