Week 3 (June 22nd-26th)

In this hands-on filmmaking camp, teens will explore the fundamentals of visual storytelling through film. Young filmmakers will learn the basics of planning, shooting, and editing while experimenting with camera angles, sound, and narrative structure. Through collaborative projects and creative exercises, students will build confidence, develop their ideas, and gain insight into how stories come to life on screen!

The camp will be led by Parker Gehring, a director, writer, producer, and editor of the independently produced film Lucy and Whitney. Parker, who holds a BA in Media Arts from Brigham Young University , has a strong background in film theory, leadership, and group organizational skills. He also travels across Utah teaching film workshops for the Utah Film Center and brings his expert knowledge to help students master the filmmaking process.

This introduction to filmmaking invites kids to explore storytelling through video and motion. Campers will work together to imagine stories, act them out, and experiment with cameras and sound while learning how movies are made.
