Embrace experimentation as you learn to layer, blend, and manipulate diverse mediums to create captivating compositions. This camp is for 13-18 yr olds. Due to Pioneer Day, this will be a 4-day week with no camp on July 24.
Week 7 (July 21-25)
Stories into Art
Learn about picture book layout, pacing, character design, sketching thumbnail and composition to illustrate a full colored finished piece. Our storyboarding will encourage us to explore humor, wonder, depths of emotion, and the fantastical through our illustrations. The last day will be spent collaborating on a story for an artistic puppet show!
This camp is for 6-12 yr olds.
Teeny Tiny Things in Clay: Bite Size!
Get ready to get your hands dirty in Wheel Throwing Camp! In this hands-on camp, young artists will learn the basics of pottery and wheel throwing. They’ll discover how to shape clay, create bowls, cups, and other fun pieces on the pottery wheel, all while exploring their creativity and learning new skills. Perfect for kids who love getting crafty and want to try something new with clay! Kids Ages 6-12. Due to Pioneer Day, this will be a 4-day week with no camp on July 24.
Note on firing: All work will be fired and ready for pick up in the Kimball Art Center 7-14 days after your class. We do not ship class work. If artwork is not picked up after 60 days it will be recycled. *Since artwork may look different after firing, make your pottery or sculpture recognizable by carving a signature into your piece.
On the last day of camp, please join us for an art show to photograph work before it gets fired !
Print, Paint, and Repeat
Dive into the art of printmaking! Carve into foam, cut out a stencil or make a relief design to create ‘stamps’ and impressions. Campers will also learn how to use a press to make multiples! Kids will leave class with a series of prints and a new appreciation for printmaking! This camp is for 10-14 year olds. Due to Pioneer Day, this will be a 4-day week with no camp on July 24.
To The Past We Go: Ancient Art for Explorers
Join us for a fun week of captivating time with ‘To The Past We Go: Ancient Art for Explorers’ summer camp! Mini explorers are invited to step back in time and dive into the fascinating world of ancient civilizations and diverse cultures. Due to Pioneer Day, this will be a 4-day week with no camp on July 24.
“The Compass” Colorful Art Camp(Grades 1-3)
It might be messy, but it sure to be fun! Campers play and learn with colors in various media from paint to sculpture and use the most innovative methods to create art. Be ready for the kinds of projects that have to be done in an art studio! No class 7/24. This camp is offsite at Mcpolin Elementary School.
