Come and create art in beautiful Park City at its autumnal best! This workshop will introduce you to the joy and beauty of observational sketching and painting of fall leaves. It will include a 1/2 hike and then a demonstration of basic sketching and watercolor techniques as well as individual instruction. No previous experience is necessary. Sculpting the Face: Exploration and Observation
Join us for a fun and in-depth exploration of portrait sculpting in clay!
Students will learn about proportion, shape, line, and texture, while also relying heavily on observation to create a 1:1 scale self-portrait. This workshop is great for students wanting to expand their clay skills or 2D artists who want to explore 3D anatomical understanding of the face. Emphasis will be placed on sculpting a likeness, as well as incorporating illusionistic elements to make our sculptures seem more alive. At the conclusion of this workshop, students will learn how to prep their sculptures for firing, and have the option to glaze them. Additionally, we will discuss various alternative finishing techniques. All work will be fired and ready for pick up in the Kimball Art Center lobby 7-14 days after your class. We do not ship class work. Wheel Try It
This is not a typical class, instead, a studio staff member will provide a demonstration at the start of the session in either wheel throwing or hand building techniques. A nominal $45 fee includes enough clay for two completed pieces as well as firing and glazing. All ages are welcome, but children 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Potter’s wheel not recommended for children under 8. All work will be fired and ready for pick up in the Kimball Art Center lobby 7-14 days after your class. We do not ship class work. Holiday Gnomes
Learn how to make a gnome in clay. Add texture and detail to make it creative and then coat it with colorful glazes. All work will be fired and ready for pick up in the Kimball Art Center lobby 7-14 days after your class. Make your own ornaments from clay! Use a stencil to cut them out or design your own. Then, texture and glaze them to make them unique. Inspired by the season, create jack-o’-lanterns. Form a pumpkin with tools and textures. Then glaze it with your favorite fall colors.
