ARToberFest was a day devoted to art: creating art, purchasing art and appreciating art. The Kimball Art Center inspires and connects through art and we wanted last Saturday to be an opportunity for kids and families to experience just that.
Kids painted the perfect pumpkin thanks to The Market at Park City’s generous donation and had their faces painted into lions, and tigers and ghouls. In our Kimball Clay Studio, many kids tried their hand at wheel throwing for the first time with the guidance of our Studio Staff and made their own clay leaf ornaments to take home. Guests were even treated to an exciting welding display full of sparks and masks. In front of our Art Starts HereTM mural families dressed up as famous artists to get their photo taken. Everywhere, art was being created by kids and adults alike.
Inside, people could view all of our Online Auction items in person and bid on items from 2016 Park City Kimball Arts Festival artists and other organizations in Utah. Art pieces found new homes and art lovers added to their collections. In the Main Gallery, our Dealer’s Choice exhibition, a collaboration of several Park City Gallery Association gallerists, was appreciated and contemplated. Guests were also able to enjoy work from Doug Smith in the Café Gallery, as his Encaustic Paintings exhibit was on display.
The event was topped off with free food from our neighbor, Boneyard Saloon, and décor donated by The Home Depot. ARToberFest was a fun-filled day and could not have been pulled off without our great sponsors, wonderful volunteers and dedicated staff. Thanks for a great start to Fall and we’ll see you soon!
