Students have fun building on top of their clay canvas, as well as mixing fun colors to make unique three dimensional painting projects. Due to firing and drying times, pieces will be ready for pick up 12-14 days after the class session is completed. Parents do not need to accompany children in this class.
New Surfaces: Introductory and Experimental China Painting Techniques
Pablo Picasso once said, “Learn the rules like a pro so you can break them like an artist.” In this workshop you will learn the introductory rules and techniques used in china painting; and, of course, how to break them. To begin, and as a means to contextualize the range of possibility in china painting, we will discuss its origin and view images of historical and contemporary works. From there, students will learn to prepare their own paint, and will begin the process of decorating the provided porcelain plates. To conclude students will leave decorated project at KAC to be fired. Due to drying and firing times, pottery will be ready for pick up 12-14 days after class has ended. Make your own rules, be a rebel, and join us!
