Learn how to see with a painter’s eye as Emily uses still life sets to teach the basics of acrylic painting. Students will learn to see what an artist sees, exploring positive and negative space, values, color theory, and composition. This class is open to any skill level and can serve as a review of the basics or a confidence booster for beginners! Students will walk away from class with more experience and confidence to continue painting on their own.

Drawing and Painting Utah Landscapes
What are the elements that make up a good landscape painting, and how do we go about it? With these questions in mind, both the beginner as well as the experienced student will explore the art of landscape painting through discussion, hands on indoor and outdoor work, and the study of light and shadow. Various methods and materials will be discussed as we work from life and reference material. Students will begin with drawing, and later move into painting. We will work outside in the Park City area, looking for subjects that spark our interest. All levels of ability are welcome in this class.
Drawing and Painting the Horse
This unique 2 -day workshop will expose the beginner as well as the experienced student painter/drawer to outdoor animal work. We will combine studio and fieldwork including presentations, demos and slide shows in addition to one on one instruction as students practice drawing and painting. First we will spend time in the studio learning a little about horse anatomy, gesture, understanding different types of light and shadow, and the common outdoor palette. A look at current and past horse paintings /sculpture will also be included. Finally, we will spend time outdoors painting and drawing horses around the Park City area, getting a feel for this fun and interesting genre.
