Nancy Paris Pruden is an award winning artist from Houston, Texas who has taught workshops in Mexico, France, Ireland, and Italy as well as the U.S. She will be teaching two workshops this summer here in Park City with an emphasis on painting Plein Air. The workshop is open to all levels from experienced artists wanting to expand their knowledge to novice painters looking for a solid foundation in the basics of oil painting. After a morning introduction with instructional material and a demonstration at the Kimball Art Center, the class will go to various locations near town to paint outdoors, weather permitting. If we are rained out, classes will continue at the Kimball Art Center with photos provided. The workshop will concentrate on composition, color mixing, atmospheric perspective, edges, color temperatures, and values. Further information about Nancy Paris Pruden is available on her website: www.parispruden.com.
Painting
Date & Create Night // Watercolor Fun
Bring your partner, your favorite person, or your bestie to our Date & Create Night! In Watercolor Fun, students will learn a simple approach to watercolor and will experiment with paint to build your artistic confidence. We will start by making shapes and creating beautiful abstract gradients. Then, students will apply these techniques to create a painting of a Utah landscape on a postcard. Beginners are welcome! This class is a welcoming, fun experience for anyone to try. Hope to see you there!
Explorations in Painting II
Take time to relax and learn to paint with either acrylic or oil paints in this class (student’s choice). Students will learn to paint from references – either photographs and/or still life sets. Students can bring in their own photographs to paint. By the last day of class, students will have the skills necessary to continue painting on their own, or advance to another class.
July Landscapes: Plein Air Painting Workshop
Celebrate the summer days outside! Jeanne LaRae will take you painting Plein Air. Students will meet at the local parks, the McPolin barn, or other picturesque locations throughout beautiful Park City. Jeanne prefers to paint with oils outside, but if there is an interest, she will demonstrate in different mediums. Your medium can be your choice between pastels, oils, watercolor and acrylics. Snacks, water, hats and sunscreen are encouraged! Enjoy the summer days by painting outside. One day registration is available!
