Tots learn about the wondrous world of watercolor! Emily will lead fun projects for the tots as they learn about different watercolor techniques using wax resist, salt speckling, tape resist, and more. Students will go home with a new painting each day, leaving class with new knowledge about watercolor painting. After the art projects are finished for the day, students will go outside to play games as a reward for their hard work creating! Parents do not need to accompany children in this class.
Painting
Painted Pots and Plants
Celebrate the summer season by getting creative and a little muddy! Each student will have the opportunity to paint a 4” terra cotta pot with acrylic paints and paint pens. When the masterpiece is completed, we will fill the pot with soil and plant a flower to take home. These projects will beautify any porch to welcome the summer season. All ages welcome, parental supervision required.
Painting Pet Portraits
Celebrate all of our furry friends in this painting class! Students will bring in a photo of their pet to class, and Ali will lead you through basic painting exercises to help students capture their best bud on canvas. Students will be working with acrylic paints, and both kids and adults will make one painting each. All ages welcome, parental supervision required.
Portraits of Pops
Join us for a fun Father’s Day painting experience! Kids register with their Dad, Grandfather, Guardian, or Mentor and learn how to paint a portrait during this workshop. Students will learn how to compose a face, add facial features, and maybe even add detailed funny faces if students are up for a challenge! Acrylic paints and stretched canvas will be used. These paintings dry quickly, and make great gifts for your special guy. This will be a creative and silly way to spend quality time to celebrate Father’s Day. All ages welcome, parental supervision required.
Big Brushes, Big Ideas: Sumi-e East Asian Brush Painting
Immerse into sumi-e and East Asian brush painting while experimenting with large sumi-e brushes in this one-day workshop! Big flowers, big trees and BIG brush strokes! This will be fun for anyone who has an adventurous spirit – discover for yourself the joy of ink on paper.
Explorations in Painting III
Take time to relax and learn to paint with either acrylic or oil paints in this class (student’s choice). Students will learn to paint from references – either photographs and/or still life sets. Students can bring in their own photographs to paint. By the last day of class, students will have the skills necessary to continue painting on their own, or advance to another class.
