Create one-of-a-kind prints using brushwork, ghost images, stencils and other tools on the printmaking press. This is an open studio session.
The evening will offer four condensed art classes for adults and one class for children under 12. Demonstrations from teachers, all art materials, hors d’oeuvres, and personalized instruction are all included in the $35/per adult and $20/per child price. A cash bar is also available.
Adults will be able to choose two of the following classes:
Glass fusion — Learn to use glass shaping tools to make an ornament or pendant. Glass properties and basic design concepts will also be taught.
Printmaking — Participants will be introduced monotype printmaking while exploring brushwork, image transfer, ghost images, stencils and unique tools on the printmaking press.
Figure drawing — Working from a clothed model, attendees will learn various portrait drawing techniques while sketching poses using either charcoal or colored pencils
Ceramics — Learn how to make mugs, cups, vases from clay slabs with introductory hand building techniques.
While adults are sampling the art making process, kids will be tooting their own horns while making unique and working musical instruments with art supplies and recycled finds. They’ll compose clic clacs, hand drums, shakers, and more.
Using craft foam, bubble wrap, toys, rollers, and paint, tots will experiment with different textures and materials to leave impressions and create one-of-a-kind prints.
Relax and create with us at Old Town Cellars and enjoy a truly unique creative experience. The subject matter of the night will be printmaking, students will carve into linoleum blocks and print onto blank fabric to create a pattern. Kylie will teach about patterns and about what makes a good one. You will learn to carve a design into two linoleum squares and print the designs on fabric. By the end of the class you will have a wearable piece of art made by you! Wine, spirits and food will be available for purchase during the class. Bring a date, a group of friends or come on your own and have fun! This class is for adults 21+ only.
This course for teens will focus on demonstrating various printmaking techniques and provide students with hands-on experience making collagraphs, relief prints and monotypes. Students will have an opportunity to explore with their new knowledge of printmaking by developing mixed media works using a combination of print methods and drawing media.
During this one day workshop, students will learn how to make fun, unique patterns on cotton scarves using everyday objects. We will learn a bit about screen print ink and how to use them. Then, we will stretch our minds to the possibility of patterns! Feathers, yarn, cups, and plants are only some of the unexpected items we will use to create these patterns. Students will leave with some beautiful fabric and a newfound appreciation for kitchen utensils.
