The monotype is a simple, direct printmaking process. The first time printmaker or the experienced one can produce lots of prints in this one day workshop. Using water based inks, plexi plates and a small etching press many applications can be tried and combined .Color mixing, reworking the ghost plate, multiple drops, washes, chine colle’, incorporating a matrix and much more will be covered.

Print, Paint, Repeat for Teens
Dive into the art of printmaking! Using wood blocks, teens will learn how to build surfaces onto the block to create images and prints. Teens will also learn about relief printmaking, where students carve into foam to make beautiful impressions. Some everyday objects can be used in printmaking, and Janice will show teens what can be used so they can try printmaking at home! Students will leave class with a series of prints after class.
Design, Carve & Print for Kids
In this class, students will learn about different types of printmaking such as, relief using foam and linoleum, using found objects (leaves, apples, string, etc.), and monoprinting. First, students will look around and find objects that they can use to make interesting relief style designs. Kids will also learn relief techniques using foam blocks and printmaking tools. Carving techniques will be taught using linoleum blocks, and finally, monoprinting will also be explored using small pieces of plexiglass, water soluble oil paint, and brushes. Students will have an entire edition of prints by the end of class!

Shapeland for Kids
Students will explore shapes in this class, and how they can form stamps, prints, and textures. Kids will be making projects using rolling pins, creating their own stamps, and exploring how to use common everyday objects to make beautiful paintings.
Kids Printmaking Workshop
Get out of school and into the art studio! In this class, students will learn about the basics of relief printmaking. Throughout the day students will learn how to plan their composition and carve their vision into foam blocks to print a relief piece. Students will look at Picasso, Hans Holbein, Hokusai, Tom Huck and other artists for inspiration. By the end of the class students will have a good understanding of how printmaking works as well as a multi-copy edition of their work.
