Get out of school and into the art studio! In this class, students will learn about the basics of relief printmaking. Throughout the day students will learn how to plan their composition and carve their vision into foam blocks to print a relief piece. Students will look at Picasso, Hans Holbein, Hokusai, Tom Huck and other artists for inspiration. By the end of the class students will have a good understanding of how printmaking works as well as a multi-copy edition of their work.

Art Exploration for Kids
Students will explore art with a variety of different mediums and techniques to diversify their creativity. We will focus on learning the basics of sculpture, printmaking, painting, and weaving. Kids will learn about 2D and 3D shapes, create sculpture fossils, carve blocks for printmaking, and make colorful weavings in this creative class!

Alex and Jesse will host students at their shop/studio on Main St., where they produce screen printed goods, including t-shirts, posters, totes and more. Choose from one of their original Park City designs, or email an image that you would like to print, and they will teach you how to screen print a unique image onto a t-shirt or poster. If you choose to BYO image, please email your image at least 24 hrs in advance to alex@motherlodepc.com. Photos must be black and white and other graphics must be one color. High-res photoshop, illustrator, jpg, or pdf files will all work! Can’t make it? We are offering this workshop once a month over the fall semester so everyone can give it a try and enjoy!

The Art of Printmaking in Monotypes
Many monotype applications will be covered with lots of demonstrations in this workshop; fingers and rags, brushes and brayers, sponges and crayons might be tried to apply inks. Multiple drops, multiple plates, chine colle’, washes, stencils, stamps, reworking the ghost plate and more will be covered. A sampler of each process might be produced. Or, a series concentrating on one or two applications could also be approached. Enjoy a day of printmaking. Class will be fun and interesting for everyone!
