Senses, Play and Memory – An Installation Art Workshop

February 14, 2023 by

In Stefan Lesueur’s project Sky Lights (included in the current exhibition), the sky is presented as a motif that is both universal and personal. Everyone recognizes the sky, but seeing the sky in a particular state (like a sunset) or knowing that it is over a certain place brings about specific memories and stories. In his workshop, Stefan invites participants to partake in playful tasks that help us observe and understand how each of the five senses function physically, and how they influence our perception and memory. Through these exercises, participants will learn how to use sensorial cues to create a certain mood, translate a story or place, or even reinvigorate an unused space.

Wheel Throwing Daytime

January 19, 2023 by

This six week course introduces students to the basics of throwing on the potter’s wheel. Your instructor will cover technique, trimming, and glazing application. All work will be fired and ready for pick up in the Kimball Art Center lobby 7-14 days after your class. We do not ship class work. If artwork is not picked up after 60 days it will be recycled. *Since artwork may look different after firing, make your pottery or sculpture recognizable by carving a signature into your piece.
