Mosaics for Teens
Teens get creatively curious in this class! This class is a Park City favorite – each year students have focused on specific themes such as self-portraits, pets, and bugs. This year Katherine is teaching teens to design and cut out their own shape for mosaic making. This builds so much confidence in their creative journey. Returning students will continue to be challenged with new and exciting applications in the world of mosaics. Katherine will be bringing a kiln for those who wish to mosaic with fused glass pieces. This class is recommended for students ages 11 – 15.
Altered Books for Teens
Students learn about how an altered book is a form of mixed media artwork that changes a book from it’s original form to a different form, changing it’s appearance or meaning. Teens will choose a topic that is meaningful to them (i.e. travel, comics, love, friendship). Then, students will have the opportunity to work with paint, vintage papers, feathers, stencils, and markers to create compositions in their book that align with their book theme. If they are up for a challenge, teens can also learn the “pop-up” book technique to give their altered book a 3-D quality. The options are endless! Bring your creativity and have fun!
Paint it, Wear it Teen!
Get creative with painting and textiles in this class! Teens learn about design and graphics, learning how to develop their own style in design. Then, with sharpies, paint pens, stencils, and acrylic paints, students apply their designs to clothing! We will provide t-shirts, snapback hats, sunglasses, and drawstring backpacks. On the last day, students should bring in an old pair of shoes to design! Canvas shoes work best.
Wood Photo Transfers for Teens
Join Rebekah in learning how to turn digital photography into awesome pieces of art. Students will practice the process of transferring photo images onto wood, while also gaining knowledge in digital photography skills. Rebekah will take students to local parks (walking or using city bus transit) to get experience in the field, taking pictures of the beautiful landscapes of park city. Students can also bring a photo they want to transfer to class with them. Students will walk away from class with new digital photography skills and awesome photos printed and displayed on a cool, vintage looking surface.
2-D Animation for Teens
Students will learn to do basic, hand-drawn 2D animation in this class. Together, we will draw a basic bouncing ball cycle that will be ready for animation. After that concept is taught, students will begin drawing a basic walk cycle using tracing paper. Kylie will help students digitize their animations, and will have the sequence saved on a flash drive. On the last day, students will create mini flip books, and will present their books in class!
