Painting Pet Portraits
Adult and Teen 14+
Working in the student’s choice of paint medium (oil, acrylic, or watercolor), Annette will teach students how to successfully paint a pet portrait. Students will learn how to break down the figure of a pet or animal into basic shapes to help accurately depict the subject. Using photographic references, learn how to simplify the subject’s form, which is a valuable skill in drawing/painting and can be applied to still lifes and the human figure. Students will learn portrait and painting techniques to capture the likeness of animals, and become more comfortable with their favored paint medium, discovering new skills in painting and drawing. Students should come to class with photographic references of the pet or animal they would like to paint. Teens 14+ are also welcome to enroll.

Artist Professional Development Workshop II: The Field
The Field is a peer-to-peer forum for artists to share work and exchange feedback. The Fieldwork method reveals how each piece is perceived by others and fosters a detailed information exchange that is both efficient and supportive. Insightful and stimulating critiques are guided by an experienced facilitator. Artists working in any medium (performing, visual, new media, craft, folk art, design, literary, music) are invited to attend, the groups are aesthetically diverse. Fieldwork is effective for beginning, emerging, and established artists. Participants may share completed works or works-in-progress. By practicing Fieldwork, artists benefit from; expanding feedback skills across disciplines, connecting with other artists, jump starting their practice, making progress on developing projects, audience building, and gain an understanding of how and what their work communicates to viewers.
