Pottery Wheel Basics Workshop

November 24, 2021 by

Students will learn the essential steps to making functional forms on the pottery wheel. Examples of what can be made will be shared along with tips and tricks. Specific project ideas will be offered for those who wish to push their new skillset. Students can finish pieces made with colored slips and leave them to be fired and picked up later. Each 2-day participant can expect to have completed, with or without assistance, 2-3 thrown forms.

All work will be fired and ready for pick up in the Kimball Art Center lobby 7-14 days after your class. We do not ship class work.

If you have not received an email from us after 2 weeks, please check the lobby (sometimes emails go to spam or the email used to sign up is invalid).
If artwork is not picked up after 60 days it will be recycled.
*Since artwork may look different after firing, make your pottery or sculpture recognizable by carving a signature into your piece.

Large vessels in clay (HB)- 2 Day Workshop

November 24, 2021 by

A range of forms and references will be discussed along with thematic ideas. Surface techniques such as adding carvings and textures will also be explored. As forms are large, they will need time to dry before being fired in a kiln. Students can finish pieces with a clay slip prior to the drying stage.
