Explore the ocean seas with Cameron as he leads clay projects that will awe and inspire! Learn about ocean landscapes, weird and funny sea creatures, and more! Tots will practice their fine motor and building skills as they make their sea objects with clay. Make sea turtles, sparkly fish, and crazy shark sculptures! After the art projects are finished for the day, students will go outside to play games as a reward for their hard work creating! Due to drying and firing times, pottery will be ready for pick up 10-12 days after the class session has ended. Parents do not need to accompany children in this class.
Camp
YogART for Tots
Be creative and active in YogART with Randi Jo! During the first hour, Randi Jo will lead a yoga lesson with the kids. During the second half of the class, kids will participate in an art project that aligns with the theme of the day. Kids will learn about mandalas, meditation, and mindfulness while creating and having fun! Parents do not need to accompany children in this class.
Mud Bugs for Tots
Tots get creative, creepy and crawly making an assortment of bugs and critters in the Kimball Clay Studio! Butterflies, beetles, bumble bees – you name it, we will help you make it! Students will make at least one critter sculpture in each class session to complete a whole family of mud bugs. After the art projects are finished for the day, students will go outside to play games as a reward for their hard work creating! Due to drying and firing times, pottery will be ready for pick up 10-12 days after the class session has ended. Parents do not need to accompany children in this class.
Pottery Pals for Tots
Get creative with clay as students experiment with clay texture and shapes as they learn basic clay building skills. Students will be introduced to coils, pinch pots and slabs as they hand build fun figures from their imagination. Each class will focus on a different technique, and students will have the opportunity to paint and glaze their mini masterpieces! After the art projects are finished for the day, students will go outside to play games as a reward for their hard work creating! Due to drying and firing times, pottery will be ready for pick up 10-12 days after the class session has ended. Parents do not need to accompany children in this class.
Encaustic Review: Introduction to Beeswax & Paper
This workshop is for the artist who wants to continue a conversation with encaustic…and begin an exploration of combining papers with beeswax in countless ways! Students will be introduced to the endless possibilities of combining beeswax with paper by utilizing collage techniques, creating translucent layers, working with mixed media materials for mark-making along with stenciling and image transfers. The workshop will begin with a discussion of encaustic history, safety procedures, materials and equipment followed by a brief review of encaustic medium and paint applications, appropriate supports, grounds, brushes, and tools. Each demonstration and discussion will be followed by ample time for practice and creative exploration throughout the 2-day workshop.
Teen Fall Break Art Camp
Teens have fun with Anna exploring painting and drawing in this 2 day art camp! Students will enjoy Anna’s relaxed approach to strengthening their drawing skills, which ultimately translates into painting skills. Weather permitting, students will walk to local parks to sketch en plein air (outside), allowing them to practice perspective, form, and proportions. In the case of inclement weather, students will work from reference photos of their choosing. Thursday’s focus will be drawing, Friday’s focus will be painting.
