Weekly Class

Drawing Fundamentals

April 2, 2026 by

Discover the foundations of drawing through the power of mark-making in this engaging, all-levels class. Inspired by master artists like Degas, students will explore how simple marks can be used to create depth, movement, and expression on the page.

Through guided exercises and weekly projects, you’ll develop essential skills such as line, shape, shading, value, and composition while strengthening pencil control and observational drawing techniques. Students will experiment with a variety of materials—including graphite, charcoal, and colored pencils—to explore different approaches to mark-making and creative expression.

Each session will focus on drawing a range of subjects, from still life to simple figures, in a supportive and exploratory environment. Whether you’re brand new to drawing or looking to refine your skills, this class offers a fun and thoughtful approach to building confidence and developing your own artistic style.

All ability levels are welcome. This is a 7-week course held on Wednesday evenings.

Suggested materials:
– Charcoal or graphite
– A sharpener
– Drawing board with clips
– Drawing Paper
– Kneaded eraser
or
– Sketchbook with colored pencils, graphite and sharpener
