After School Art (Ages 6-12)

Meet us online for an after-school Art program. Each week, we’ll explore a different artist, elements of art and medium. Kiddos will learn new skills and enjoy an art community online. Online lessons will include demonstrations, conversations, and time for young artists to share their work with each other. Themes allow youth to find their own voice and explore creative ideas.

This class will be taught in spanish and english. 

About Miriam Chavez:

Hello! My name is Miriam. I was born and raised in Mexico. I enjoy experimenting with different techniques and media like collage, watercolor, acrylics, and graphite. My favorite subjects are fashion and insects. 

Class price includes an art kit with all lesson materials. Art Kits can be picked up at Kimball Art Center the week of September 7. Email reminders are sent each week in preparation for the class with a zoom link, specific supply list and summary! 

Artful Afternoon – Rice Krispie Critters

Sometimes, it’s okay to play with our food! Instead of clay or playdough, we’ll use Rice Krispies to mold and create our favorite Park City critters. Beavers, moose, deer, birds, elk and more make for delicious artwork!

Materials needed:

Premade Rice Krispies (still gooey), candy, food coloring, wax paper, paper plate.

Artful Morning – Taking Note

Make your own notepad, sketchbook, or journal to fill with your thoughts, drawings, and observations.

Materials needed:

Construction paper or cardstock or heavy paper, printer paper, hole punch, scissors, ruler, embroidery thread or string.

Artful Morning – Gifts for Mother’s Day

Create a cereal box diorama featuring your family. This 3D scene makes a thoughtful Mother’s Day gift.

Materials needed:

Cereal box, construction paper, liquid white glue, markers, printer paper, scissors.

Artful Morning – Constructing Mythical Creatures

Paper curl and collage the mythical creature of your choice.

Materials needed:

Construction paper or cardstock or heavy paper, printer paper, scissors, ruler, pencil, markers.

It’s the Little Things

Big narratives in small packages. We’ll learn to build miniature dioramas using matchboxes or tin containers. But the stories that go with them are larger than life!

Materials needed:

Tin containers or matchboxes, paper, scissors, glue &/or glue gun, pencils.
