We will explore the beautiful versatility of creating a relief block. In this class we will learn the techniques of carving an image into linoleum blocks and transferring our designs with ink onto paper. In the future, these blocks can be transferred to a variety of tactile surfaces such as stamps, fabrics and wrapping paper!
Printmaking
Simple Sculptures
We’ll experiment with sculpture and printmaking to create and build in 3D.
Materials needed:
Cardboard, glue or hot glue gun, pie tins, sharpies, aluminum foil, glue, pencils, pens, any paint.

Children 10 and under must register with an adult.
Block Printing
Learn about relief printmaking methods, carve a block, and create a variety of textures and marks, then print your completed block.
Print as Protest
Relief printmaking is rooted in socio-political causes, often used to spread information visually. In this class, students will learn the technique of relief printmaking using mounted linoleum blocks and carving gouges, design elements and principles, how to visually represent an idea, then print it on paper and a t-shirt.
